First things first, I know other candidates are highlighting to you that I’m not the local candidate and that I’ve been “parachuted” in from London. I’ve never tried to hide the truth which is that I’m from Worcestershire but went to London for work after university and that’s where I was living when the election was called. I would like to make it clear though that I definitely wasn’t “parachuted” in to Northfield – I was chosen to stand here by local Conservative Party members at a very well attended meeting.
I’m currently living very happily in a flat in Longbridge, and my new husband and I (we got married just two weeks ago!) are looking forward to making our home in the Northfield constituency if you elect me as your Member of Parliament on 8th June.
But why should you vote for me? First and foremost I’m energetic, hard working and accessible. Since I was adopted as the Conservative candidate in Northfield my team and I have knocked on thousands of doors, talking to people about their concerns and hopes for our local area.
I’m the candidate who’s determined to deliver for Northfield. As your Member of Parliament I will work tirelessly to attract new and diverse businesses so that there are more opportunities and jobs for young people leaving our schools and for everyone else whatever their age. I recently lobbied the Culture Minister, Matt Hancock, about bringing Channel 4 to Longbridge and this is just a start. We’ve got great things to promote us here in Northfield – from our location in the centre of the UK, to our transport links and skills base.
It’s great that we’ve got good local schools in Northfield but I want to work with and support teachers and parents to make our schools outstanding so that our children can have the best education possible.
I also know that many residents are concerned about travellers encroaching on land close to their homes, disrupting their lives and leaving behind rubbish for others to clear up. Other concerns I’ve heard about on the doorstep are the levels of crime and anti-social behaviour that blight residents’ lives and, very sadly, I’ve also heard about the rogue traders who prey on the elderly and vulnerable. I want to work with the police on all these issues so that everyone can feel safe in their own home and on our streets.
And, very importantly, I want us to have a good deal as a country from Brexit and it won’t surprise you to know that I believe Theresa May is the only person that is capable of negotiating this on our behalf.
In asking for your support on 8th June I would like to end with one last thought.
If you don’t want Jeremy Corbyn to be the Prime Minister of our country, if you don’t believe he’s equipped to negotiate Brexit, keep our economy strong or our nation secure there’s no safe way to vote Labour.
